On Wednesday, 13th August 2025, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, will visit Ukpor. I urge the President General of Ukpor Improvement Union, Rt. Hon. Barr. Ikenna Amaechi, to take a cue from the leadership style of Nzukora Nnewi and use this visit to make specific, non-negotiable demands from the Governor.

Central to those demands must be the re-opening of the Divisional Police Station in Ukpor. It is unacceptable that policemen posted to Ukpor Division operate from the Area Command in Nnewi — a jurisdiction outside Nnewi South Local Government Area.

We cannot continue pretending all is well while Ukpor is still treated as “ungoverned space” but remains convenient enough for political rallies. The message to the Governor is clear:

Mr. Governor, as the Chief Security Officer of Anambra State, we remind you that the DPO supposedly reporting to Ukpor is not even working within our local government. Just as you instantly awarded the Adili Road project in Nnewi at a political rally, we urge you today to make a clear pronouncement on the immediate return of all policemen posted to Ukpor Division to resume duty here — maka odimma Ukpor.

This is not a luxury. This is a matter of safety, dignity, and the right of Ukpor to have full and functional state security presence.
