The South East Patriots (SEP) issues this urgent and heartfelt appeal to the Governors and Security Chiefs of the South East, as well as Ohanaeze Ndigbo and all traditional, religious, and community leaders, to take immediate and coordinated steps to protect the lives and property of our people ahead of the scheduled judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, coming up on 20th November 2025.

1. A Predictable Security Risk

Experience over the past years has shown that every major court sitting involving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been followed by unrest, attacks, or forced lockdowns in parts of the South East.
The now notorious Monday sit-at-home, enforced through violence and intimidation, has resulted in untold loss of lives, destruction of property, and economic paralysis for millions of innocent people.
These violent acts have never advanced the cause of justice — instead, they have deepened the suffering of the very people whose freedom and dignity are being claimed as the reason for the struggle.

2. The Danger Ahead

With the judgment now fixed for 20th November 2025, SEP warns that some elements may once again exploit the emotional atmosphere surrounding the case to unleash mayhem on the people of the South East, regardless of the outcome of the court’s decision.
It is therefore predictable and preventable that mischief-makers will attempt to hijack public sentiment to cause chaos, disrupt movement, and terrorise our communities under the false pretext of “defending” Mazi Kanu.
We must not allow this cycle of self-inflicted suffering to continue.

3. Call to Action for South East Governors and Security Agencies

SEP calls on all South East Governors, in concert with the Commissioners of Police, Military Commands, and the Department of State Services (DSS) across the region, to immediately:
  • Convene joint emergency security meetings ahead of 20th November;
  • Deploy security presence to major urban centres, highways, and markets;
  • Secure schools, transport routes, and public institutions to prevent disruption;
  • Engage community leaders and traditional rulers to sensitise residents against panic and misinformation;
  • Ensure that security responses are preemptive, not reactive — protecting both the innocent and the region’s fragile economy.
Our leaders cannot claim to be caught unawares when the threat is both visible and historically consistent.

4. Our Appeal to the People

SEP urges the people of the South East to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, irrespective of the judgment’s outcome.
The destiny of our region lies not in the hands of those who profit from chaos, but in our collective commitment to peace, lawful engagement, and economic progress.
Let no one use the name of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as a weapon against the peace and survival of Ndigbo.
Let us remember that the true spirit of justice is not vengeance — it is discipline, patience, and wisdom.

5. Conclusion

The scheduled judgment is a legal milestone, not a licence for violence.
Our governors and leaders must act decisively and preventively to ensure that the people of the South East do not once again pay the price for the lawlessness of a few.
Let the 20th of November be remembered for justice and peace, not for bloodshed and fear.
SEP will continue to work with all progressive forces to ensure that the South East becomes Nigeria’s next economic hub through informed political participation and decisions at the ballot — not through destruction or intimidation.
